There’s something deeply special about photographing a family at a place steeped in history, where the land carries stories, and the quiet open fields give room for connection. I recently had a session with a lovely couple expecting their next little one, along with their toddler, at Gettysburg National Military Park, and it was one of those shoots that felt both intimate and timeless!

We met during the golden hour before sunset, when the light was warm and soft, gently wrapping the landscape in glow. The battlefield, part of Gettysburg National Military Park, stretches wide, with rolling hills, mature woodlands, and patches of open fields and pasture.

Gettysburg National Military Park preserves much of the historic battlefield landscape. Walking together across the fields, we used that late‑day warmth, long shadows, golden hues, to capture natural moments and emotion!

Working with this family in Gettysburg at that beautiful light before sunset was a reminder: photography is about capturing more than posed images. It’s about preserving connections, moments of joy and anticipation, set against a landscape full of meaning!
