The Spanish Steps are such a hidden gem and one of the most romantic places to propose in DC. They made the perfect backdrop for this surprise proposal in Washington DC. The couple showed up looking amazing, just casually walking together! As a Washington DC proposal photographer, these are the moments you live for. When he finally got down on one knee, everything changed instantly. She was completely surprised! And yes, there were tears! The good kind. It was such a real, emotional moment, and exactly why I love DC proposal photography!

After she said yes, the mood shifted into pure excitement. Lots of laughing, hugging, and those “we can’t believe this just happened” kind of smiles. It turned into the sweetest DC engagement session, and you could tell they were just soaking it all in together! We spent some time wandering around afterward, capturing a mix of candid moments and Spanish Steps engagement photos. They made it easy just by being themselves!
