Last summer, I had the pleasure of capturing a beautiful Catholic wedding ceremony at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover, PA. The couple was very warm and welcoming, and the bride looked absolutely radiant!

I used the 24–70 mm f/2.8 lens for versatile framing and the “nifty fifty” for intimate close‑ups, paired with my Canon R6 Mark II, which did very well in dark scenarios.
A moment that truly stood out for me was the communion. This sacred part of the Nuptial Mass, the Liturgy of the Eucharist, is so powerful. In Catholic tradition, partaking of the bread and wine signifies a deep spiritual union, not only between the couple and each other, but also with Christ and the faith community, symbolizing that the marriage covenant itself is anchored in sacrament and grace!

Once the ceremony concluded, we headed outside to capture some heartfelt family and couple portraits among the church’s charming grounds, a perfect setting for timeless memories! One of my favorite details of the day? That gorgeous bouquet!!!

This wedding was a beautiful testament to how love, tradition, and thoughtful composition can come together in deeply meaningful ways! The sacred intimacy of that moment, where faith and union merged, was breathtaking to document! I’m honored to have preserved such unforgettable memories!

A Brief History of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, PA
St. Joseph Catholic Church's roots in Hanover trace back to 1806, when Jesuit missionary Rev. Charles Merinchx celebrated Mass for a small community of Catholic families. The parish was officially established in 1864, and a former Methodist church on Baltimore Street was repurposed to serve as both a place of worship and a school. In 1877, Father John B. Emig began constructing a new church on Baltimore Street, which was dedicated on November 1, 1880.
In 1963, the original church was replaced with a new sanctuary on Grandview Road, dedicated on September 1, 1975, under the leadership of Father Robert C. Gribbin.
